Just got myself a new Sammy HD and there is a jumper setting to set the transfer rate at 1.5gb instead of 3gb.

Does anyone now what setting I should used for my system ?

Also I seem to only have a Sata cable on my system - doesnt appear to be a power cable for it ? Is this right - can the disk be powered via the Sata cable ?

Leave the jumper where it is, 3Gbps is SATA2 which may cause problems with your PC as it doesn't support SATA2 - it should be backwards compatible but better safe than sorry. You won't lose any performance leaving it where it is.

I take it the drive only has the SATA power connector next to the data one and no 4 pin molex? If so you'll need to get a convertor cable like the second one down here

Thankyou so much - will leave the jumper where it is and need to go shopping now for a 'Serial ATA PSU Converter'...

Cheers :)
