Idiot-proof video editing software

I bought a digital camcorder about 4 years ago, and have only just got around to using it.

I now need some simple editing software, preferably shareware or freeware, as I don’t have the time or patience to get to grips with something like Premiere. It doesn’t have to be feature packed, I’m no Spielberg (I’ll make good films ).

Any suggestions?

Windows Movie Maker is good for beginners although Premiere isn't that difficult to get to grips with and will allow you to do better effects and stuff.
