I uninstalled Firefox which my mum uses and she asked me where the earth was. She couldn't get on google because she couldn't find it.

Turned out she meant the Firefox icon.

Is there a easy to use web browser for my mum, or perhaps some plugins for chrome which I'm using now to make it super easy to use?

Thanks

Well if you don't have adblock plus then browsing will be really annoying no matter what browser you are doing.
Why not just stick with firefox?

Tell your mum she no longer needs Google, just use the address bar as the search box (that's how most browsers work nowadays) and she'll be taken to Google with the results.

You could spend half an hour just teaching her. If you do it slowly and clearly she should get it.

Haha, some folks from the older/less techy generation just do not get along with computers and stuff. Half an hour? More like twice a day for several years!

Chrome to open on startup with google as the homepage. Teach her the concept of tabs by telling her it's like the pages of a book and not to close the book if there is still pages she is interested in looking at. Teach her that she can search for her terms directly in the URL bar. Install adblock plus so she doesn't confuse adverts for genuine content and it should be a pretty pain-free life enhancing tool for her.

Eames, not sure if your mum is of workable age or pensionable age, but if she is working, I know that some larger firms will have courses. E.g. mine does introduction to the internet, basic MS Word, Excel etc and advanced MS Word, Excel etc. If not working (or her work doesn't have such courses), she could try a couple of night classes at the local college to get her up to speed. My granny is 83, learnt a bit from me and had a few 1-to-1 lessons with their local techie and she's pretty good with the apps now.

Does your Mum type in entire web addresses to Google like mine? :D

My mum thinks google is the entire internet. Even if she types in a different web address up the top she couldn't possibly have done it without google being there first I still remember her confusion with her new laptop opening IE to find bing and asking me how to find the internet :p
