Idiots

He is home, and is really ****ed off that he has to stay in one room - can't have him ****ing all over the carpets because he has no litterbox (other than this make-do one) and can (it appears) scarcely remember where everything is.

Other than keeping him company, food (special treat stuff), milk/water, what is there to do to improve his mood :(

Kind of an ironic title i think.. :p

They've let you know your cat has worms, i don't see the problem..

I'm sure they weren't aware that the cat has been presumed missing for a year, if so they sound like the people to tell you straight away!

This is one of the reasons that my cats don't get outside. Cats are greedy and will continue to eat if they are presented with food, yet a lot of people don't seem to realise this and think that they are "helping" the cat by feeding them. If they also let the "poor cat left out in the rain" into their home, then the cat will just pick the house with the most food and attention. If my cats were allowed outside, I know that I would end up with huge vet bills for one of them becoming obese, as she already has to have her diet controlled .

If you have anything that still smells of your cat (I know it's unlikely) then give that to him to help make him feel a bit more comfortable. If you can get hold of a decent litter tray and he's using it, then let him roam the house, but keep him inside until you're confident that he definately knows it is home and feels comfortable there.

Thanks for the help, Vixen. Will make camp in the lounge with an old radiator sofa of his, should reek of him!

He seems fairly comfortable, is lounging around, just annoyed he's not allowed free reign.

Ugh, this has actually happened to us. Put the cat on a diet, but it still kept gaining weight.. only found out a bit later an old lady down the road had been feeding her. Should be fairly obvious that it's not starving if it's seriously overweight.

Sounds like they have adopted the cat over the last year and now given it back when it got sick because they don't want to pay for it.

I have some friends that did something similar - everytime I went round for a year they had a cat in the house, cat toys food etc. Then one day it was gone, they told me it wasn't their cat and they just took it inside when they saw it. Apparently it had got ill with something so they'd chucked it out. I think it had been going over for nearly 2 years.

glad you got im back :)

your a crap owner LOLZ id go back to the students too if I was a cat.

I don't know why he is a crap owner. If his cat likes the food elsewhere then there is not much he can do about it, people shouldn't really feed other peoples pets if they are not going to live up to the responsibility of owning it. Like feeding a kid and then disowning it when it gets diabebtes.
