So is it dangerous out there with all the snow and ice yet STILL some idiots think it is acceptable to drive while using their phone.

*sigh*

One can only hope they wipe themselves from the gene pool without harming anyone else.

I think you're overreacting to be honest, lol

I'm sure I could capabably drive slowly in the snow while on the phone without significantly increasing the chance of injuring anyone!

I often wish all the reatrds/chavs on the road all used motorbikes.

That way, they'd be largely killed off within a few weeks.

I don't.

I think it's the single most arrogant and stupid thing you can do whilst driving.

Personally I think the law is good because there are a lot of people that are absolutely shocking at doing more than one thing at once so it does make the roads safer. I have no problem with seeing people do it if they can still drive properly when they do. I could talk on the phone and sip a drink whilst commuting and you wouldn't see any difference in my driving imo. Doesn't make it right though.
The law does get a bit silly though when you think that you can't talk on a mobile but you can have a whizzy flash head unit with all the tiny buttons that you could spend ages fiddling with legally.

I mean come on, be realistic guys. Everyone out there is trundling along at a snails pace. I could probably brush my teeth and cook breakfast - a car is not going to teleport in front of me! :p

Teleport no but in these conditions it could slide in front of you when you'd least be expecting it.

Also I've just seen Seven Pounds and pretty much like where my kidney currently is :D

Yeah but then that's obviously the time when you don't shave your legs on the dash :p

If it's a clear space where you cannot possibly be confronted with anything challenging, then why not? The law exists to prevent you from getting away with it everywhere, but in certain places, it's safe.

You might be able to. 99% of drivers quite clearly can't though. You must have noticed this?

Unfortunately, the ban on phones while driving is utterly pointless if nothing is done about smoking while driving. Its illegal to use one hand on a phone, but perfectly legal to steer with your knees while getting your lighter form your back pocket, then getting the fags from the glove box, then wind down the window while getting a fag out, lighting it, and then 30 seconds later looking back at the road, stopping steering with your knees, and proceding to drive one handed for the duration of the smoke.

Its also perfectly legal for my dad to use a radio while driving (taxi driver) and for police to use their radios too...

I agree phones should be banned, but they are only one area of a whole load of things that get overlooked.
