Hi,

I'm running an unclocked e6320 with Freezer Pro and was wondering what sort of temps would be considered 'normal' when idling. I'm seeing 40 degrees(and I've seen it spike at 45). Does that sound right?

Cheers,

Sounds high to me.

I've got a C2D 2160 overclocked at just under 3Ghz and my idle is 30. Pushed it hits mid 50's.

Is the heatsink installed correctly?

I believe it is, but will check. Do you get your temps from your modo? Mine are from the mobo (Asus P5B) which I believe may suffer from incorrect temperature readings, depending on BIOS, so I'll check that out too.

Download core temp from here http://www.thecoolest.zerobrains.com/CoreTemp/CoreTempBeta.zip

This will give accurate temp readings as taken directly from the cpu die. Ignore your mobo temp readings for the cpu and use coretemp.

mine says 27 with coretemp. just got a few sidebar apps running. im pleased with my new rig :)

Tried running CoreTemp, but apparently it doesn't work on Vista 64 (which I failed to mention I was running on (sorry)). Is there any other freeware I could use to get an accurate reading? Getting a bit worried now. After booting up today the CPU registered 40 (according to Mobo and Vista sidebar). Downloaded some pictures of my camera and CPU hit 55:eek:. It is now idling at 42, as I write.

http://forums.erodov.com/showthread.php?p=15559 Core temp hack for Vista x64. Now it will work :)

Okay,

Just run Everest (wow what a load of info!) and initially wasn't sure where to look to get the required info. Eventually found the CPU temps (under 'Sensor') and the temps there no way reflect the readings what the mobo and sidebar are giving. Presently the laterare reading 53. Everest shows 37 (cores at 28 & 33). Can't understand why the big difference?
