I've been off the pace as of late, and i need something to tickle my ear drums again... Some kind of music that's so unexpected it leaves you tingle all over. :) :) :) :)

Any recommendations along the lines of The Flashbulb, Frog Pocket, Square Pusher, VS, Autechre and the god almighty Alphex Twin etc etc etc.......

Aphex has been doing IDM as long as I can remember. Since when has much of his stuff not been IDM? In fact, I'm 99% certain the term was coined for Aphex Twin.

[edit] First google result: "Fans of Aphex Twin made an internet discussion list in August 1993 to talk about Aphex Twin and Warp Records. It was called the Intelligent Dance Music List. From then fans from the internet have called Aphex Twin IDM and Drill and bass to describe Richard's novel approach to dance music."

As for a recommendation, I've been listening to the latest Bogdan Raczynski album, "Alright," a lot. It's ridiculously awesome and happy. It should fufil your need to feel tingly. :)

Maybe some of the stuff under Aphex Twin's other monikers: AFX, Polygon Window, Power-Pill, Caustic Window, etc. (I think those are correct, anyway).

Also consider µ-Ziq and Venetian Snares, which I believe also fit this genre.

If you've never heard any Venetian Snares before, I guess the safest bet is Rossz Csillag Alatt Született.

If you know what to expect, however, then there's soooo much to choose from. His brand new album, Detrimentalist, is excellent, as are Huge Chrome Cylinder Box Unfolding, Cavalcade Of Glee And Dadaist Happy Hardcore Pom Poms, but the pinnacle is the utterly brilliant - and downright scary - Doll Doll Doll.

[EDIT: Oops: I should point out that Snares music ain't IDM in the strict sense. It's more breakcore, apparently. If you can D to this M, consider me impressed ;) Still, you did mention him, hence the recommendations.]

The Tuss (another fex moniker, and bloody brilliant), µ-Ziq (as mentioned above). Some crystal Castles could be classed as IDM lol, Tonearm, Luke Vibert, Andrew Weatherall, RGC, Sabrepulse, Tycho, Brian Tregaskin (fan fex but ace), Mike and Rich (more fex), 7 Pin Dinner, th'idiot.

Should keep you going.

Of course this isn't true (late 80's early 90's) 'IDM', but it is intelligent dance music none the less!.
