iDNet ?

I went for a 12 month plan and used my own router. You need to sign up for 24 months for the included router. However, based on my experience so far, I would be more than happy to remain with IDNet.

Just to reboot this thread!

Are you still feeling the love for idnet?

Just browsing and i am trying to work out why i would buy a Zen product from them rather than using Zen direct saving a few quid as the packages are near as dammit the same?

I’ve been with IDNet via Openreach for around 2.5 years, not the cheapest provider but they are stable and I like the static v4 and v6 assignments

As has been mentioned apparently the support is good when required, I haven’t had a need to use it

Thanks.

Could you explain please?

I'm not sure what I can explain, but IDNet aren't reselling Zen broadband services. I think in certain locations they use Zen for backhaul but my experience with a business CityFibre connection in the midlands is that it isn't using the CityFibre National service or going near the Zen network - pings to services hosted out of the London region are a stable 4 or 5ms, which is 3ms better than the ethernet service that was at this location previously.

Code:
Tracing route to bbc.co.uk [151.101.128.81]
over a maximum of 30 hops:

  1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms 10.1.104.1
  2 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms telehouse-gw10.idnet.net [212.69.63.54]
  3 4 ms 5 ms 5 ms telehouse-gw8.idnet.net [212.69.63.136]
  4 4 ms 5 ms 4 ms telehouse-gw7.idnet.net [212.69.63.169]
  5 * * * Request timed out.
  6 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms 151.101.128.81

Cheers.

Currently with Trooli on their 2Gb package and it isnt great TBH.

Certainly notice it slow down a little at peak times, web pages loading slower or getting a response from them.

i appreciate that they can also be a bit of a bottleneck sometimes but many are specialist forums.

Its weird as ping times are generally 4ms or thereabouts most of the time.

Been with Idnet for a few months now, came from Aquiss as they are much more expensive, I've gone from 150mb to 300 and it's still cheaper.

I like that you can choose not to receive a garbage router and simple pricing.
Support were very fast and answered my questions straight away. (I always test customer service these days before signing up, just a simple question to see how long they take and if they answer it first time)

Looks like they are doing upgrades.

Please be advised we are upgrading our core network to multiple 100G links to boost capacity on 27th January 2026.

The maintenance window for these works is from 5am and expected to be completed by 7am.

A brief period of downtime (not expected to exceed 30 minutes) may be experienced by End Users with Leased Lines or Alt Net Fibre services.
