IE 8 makes text input bars tiny :-/

As title really, makes google look like this:

I have to guess what I'm writing. I've tried increasing the text size and zooming but to no avail.

This only happened when I updated IE7 to IE8.

Any ideas?

how odd, not seen that before. have you tried resetting all the defaults? tools> options>advanced tab.

Thanks, that looks like the issue, but I've just tried that and I can't find the TEXTFILE folder at all. This is what I get:
