As above really. My mate cannot access his bank details (or any other secure sites). He know he's done something on his PC, as he can access his bank account from a different PC.

I'm fairly sure it'll be something simple, but, I'm at a loss as he tells me all his settings are at default. I can't think of anything specific, and his cookies are set to automatic

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Andy.

first thing I would do would be to run virus scanner, spyware scanners etc to be sure

does his system clock have the right time? if the bios battery is on the way out his system may have the wrong date/time therefore security certificates on websites will be deemed out of date

In IE check that SSL is enabled (tools - internet options - advanced)

Hi Dave. Thanks. The first thing I asked him to do was run his antivirus (MacAfee) which didn't show up any problems. I'll ask about the SSL (should it be version 2.0?) and get him to check his computers time when he gets home this afternoon.

Cheers, Andy.

Apparently that's not the problem, unfortunately. SSL is enabled and the clock is correct. :(

Another thing he's just mentoned is that his browsing history has vanished. It's not holding any browse history at all, which was not the case before. I got him to check whether the "delete on exit" button was ticked but it isn't.:confused::confused:

You could try the below, this fixed a similar issue I had

run from run or cmd
regsvr32 softpub.dll
regsvr32 wintrust.dll
regsvr32 initpki.dll
regsvr32 dssenh.dll
regsvr32 rsaenh.dll
regsvr32 gpkcsp.dll
regsvr32 sccbase.dll
regsvr32 slbcsp.dll
regsvr32 cryptdlg.dll
