ie4uinit.exe - Entry Point Not Found
The procedure entry point RunSetupCommandW could not be located in the dynamic link library ADVPACK.ddl

I want to dual boot Windows 7 x64 and Windows XP x86 (for 16-bit apps) and have started fresh install on seperate partitions (Installation went fine with Windows 7) but after install drivers/windows update and restart PC on Windows XP the above error message appears when clicking the username to log on.

This means that it has corrupted IE8 install plus Windows Explorer does not work i.e. right-click my computer > properties does not work as well as others.

Have tried uninstalling IE8 and installing again but it works but it takes 30 seconds for network connections to load and what seems like forever to load IE8. This is obviously not acceptable for a clean Windows installation.

Can anyone help me? I have already wasted discs and hours trying to get this f*king thing to work.

Okay I re-installed yet again and this time I installed IE8 from my memory stick as the first thing when it installed i.e. before installed drivers etc.

Seems to be working so far I will give an update.

Not sure if it is working because of it not downloading updates (as no internet/driver) or because all the KB updates interfering or something :o

I wouldn't even bother arsing about trying to fix Explorer and I.E. if the paint was still wet on my OS installation. Just put the XP disc back in and start again.

I agree
Sorry mabye I was not clear: (sry ps: i only tried reinstalling ie8 cauz it was suggested someplace else and to counter incase someone else suggested doing it)

I have been doing that but each and every time I reinstalled windows
installed drivers
updates
reboot

that error comes up

thought it was cauz of XP SP2 disc so i had to nlite sp3 then i thought it was cauz of floppy drivers so i nlite floppy drivers etcetc but every time that error come up.

Now instead of installing windoes > drivers
i done = windows > ie8
now doing drivers
then updates

edit: installed drivers
now doing windows updates within ie8 so far so good 86 updates 260MB so gonna take about 30mins until it asks me to reboot
hopefully this will work

sry for creating this thread
after i created it i just thought about installing ie8 before anything else
so after it hopefully should work
will let you know

Now .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and .NET Family update 2.0 or WHATEVER not installing
on windows update nothing happens

FFS

Now it wants me to redownload other others now

FFS

waste of time

I never thought I'd ever say this: I HATE WINDOWS XP

Wow I don't believe it.

I done it.

When doing windows updates
I first installed the express ones restarted and then the custom ones (software) and express > custom each time until there were no more. I have no idea what difference made but it certainly works after all this time.

Will try VM another time I think lol
Thanks.
