[IE7] New list of CSS fixes

Excellent. I wonder how many people will be upgraded to IE7 in one foul swoop once it hits Live Update.

Does anyone know of a full list of what is supported / unsupported in IE6 vs. 7 as published by MS? A full bug list of IE6 and what has been fixed in 7 would also be useful.

It's a shame they won't take the approach of removing quirks mode altogether. No other markup language has error-fixing, so why should HTML? :p

woohoo! now all we need is for it to be a forced download for ALL windows users connected to the internet..

and then i wake up and smell the fresh coffee.

When is it being released?

The most annoying thing about IE is the lack of PNG support, hate sticking to gifs, PNGs are so much better.

Saw this a couple of days ago. Very excited at the sheer number of fixes included, slightly apprehensive that it appears to only be XPSP2 and above, and very happy that it's going to be marked as a critical update.

Firefox has a Quirks Mode too...look at the render mode in the Page Info when there's no doctype.

http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=56998 pushes it into Quirks Mode.

I think it's just due to the number of very badly written websites that developed in the early days of the web and they're afraid of alienating these people...unfortunately. Be a laugh to see some big corporations have to fix thair websites pronto ;)

Indeed, PNGs are a lot better, and PNG support is in IE and has been for a long while. What it (<=IE6) doesn't support natively is alpha-channel [partial] transparency, while it does support 1-bit on/off transparency like GIF. There's no reason to be using GIF over PNG unless you need animation, as we're unlikely to see widespread MNG takeup.

No :/ I'm 99% certain it's been in the CSS 2 spec from the start.
Yep.

Proprietary features in CSS should be indicated by a 'vendor-specific' prefix, like -moz-. An initial dash or underscore followed by an identifier. Naturally, Microsoft's prefix is mso- :D. Apparently there was actually no formal spec for prefixes at the time, so we can let them off.

I know. I wish they'd remove it too, really, but people would just complain. If MS do it then everyone can, pretty much.
