IE7 Rendering Issue

Hey all, quick one, my course's website isn't rendering in IE7 properly, it misses out the background behind the menu bar for some reason, can anyone suggest a soloution...

have you set a value for the menu background?

Giving .nav a width seems to fix it. I make it 717px, to account for the 773px width of the site and 56px of padding on the nav.
