IE7 uselessness

Been using IE7 Beta 3 for ages without problems but thought it was about time I upgraded to the latest release.

Having done so, however, IE7 now doesn't work at all. Oh it loads ok but any attempt to access anything results in a length "Connecting..." followed by failure. It even happens with local addresses such as my router's config pages.

Nice one Microsoft, thanks for that you bunch of muppets.

Restoring to just before I did the upgrade drops me all the way back to IE6 which does actually work. I've tried upgrading again from this point to IE7 but the same problem persists so I've dropped back to IE6 again.

Anyone got any ideas or am I stuck on IE6 until I decide to reinstall Windows?

just reinstall windows you pussy. and stop complaining lol

Went from RC1 to the full version here with no issues. Have you tried installing IE7 and then going to add/remove programs, selecting it, then selecting "repair"? I haven't tried that with IE7, but it solved some issues I've had with previous versions of IE.

Very constructive, thanks for that. As it happens I have no choice and have to use Windows but would choose to anyway as I think it's the best option overall. That doesn't stop me griping about certain bits of it though as nothing is perfect.

Anyway, I've found the problem. Apparently it's related to ZoneAlarm and the resolution is to uninstall this completely, then install IE7, then reboot TWICE and all should be well.
