the last few days i have been having trouble with certain web pages where i can't click on the next page button, i have to right click mouse and click on open.

how can i get back to being able to just click on the next page button?

also when going onto gmail/ ebay i get a security warning asking if i want to view all content that was delivered securely? if i click yes i get error on page

also mouse icon flashes 3-4 times after every web page opens, never done that before either.

using

Win7 ultimate 64bit
IE8

any help would be appreciated

i'd have to stage a guess that your computer is trying to run some more script, configure your internet options correct to how you want your internet to opperate,

if you are using firefox then it stops pages running extra script unless you allow them, to do this you'll see an icon in the bottom right corner of your browser - mouse over it to see what it's asking you to allow, if you see it asking if you wish to allow or forbid a a number of sites you don't wish to have a permenent allow rule for then just set it to temperarily allow - when using temperarily allow it means the rule will only apply for aslong as that session on the internet lasts,
you can set it to allow and that rule will mean it applies any time that you visit the site not just during that session.

on the net you will find sites that host all various parts to 1 site, for example 1 will be responsible for hosting adverts or another for hosting the pictures that are on sites,
it's just like you having an account with photobucket.com to host the pictures you post on this forum, when doing that it's visible on this site but it's photobucket thats hosting it.

you should be using Firefox if you wish to control what scripts your computer runs when visiting sites on the internet

edit- i just read the title of your post and it's internet explorer 8 you are using, i'd say it's running a lot of extra script on your computer and you may have infected your computer with something when visiting or downloading from any naughty sites,

there's any number of reasons your computer is behaving the way it is if you don't know whats running on it, i personally use firefox so i know what i'm allowing it to run,
internet explorer auto allows all scripts the site uses to host it's content firefox allows what you set it to allow

hope this helped

i'm using Firefox now and the problem has gone.

i ran a virus check and only came up with a corrupted file (3d mark ) it was moved to virus vault.

thanks for the help, it is most appreciated ;)

np's :)
happy i could solve your issue,

1 more thing... you can get addons for firefox to help with extra security or other factors whilest browsing the net such as favourites etc

well getting him to move to FF hasnt solved the problem with ie8 though has it

it's the site he's going to having a lot of scripts run in the background and other factors within internet explorer 8's options aswell as the corrupted file issue that i predicted that was hindering him, it's like someone going to the porn sites and experiencing hijacking issues .... just don't do it if you don't like getting hijacked,

the corrupted file is out of the issue now as is the too many scripts running in the back-ground :)
where was your help on the matter? or was you lurking for ppl to criticise?

lol that was his problem, too many scripts running in the background was 1 of his issues he wanted to stop and ie8 allows everything to run, FF doesn't and it does exactly the same thing as IE8 lol he is doing what he was wanting to do with added security now (fixed)

i wouldnt say fixed , its more like a side step
his ie8 still isnt fixed but he`s happy

where it would still bug me that i cant use ie8
not a fan of FF myself and a couple of site i use dont work right on it
anyway thats by the by

i don't use naughty sites and i must admit i don't particularly favour FF but it will do.

if i do a restore would that help or would it not make a difference?

i have run malware/ av and according to those i am OK.

did a restore and problem seems to have disappeared :)

hopefully will stay that way.

thanks for all the help ;)

so as it turns out it was maybe just corrupted and kept the mouse cursor flashing due to trying to re-read script that maybe was corrpt, recently i have given this another thought after i had been updating a few things, i did forget 1 thing that could have been the fault, any out of date addons for the browser etc.... i did explain firefox having extra security also and this is what i realised this morning upon my updates the security comes from added addons for my browser, 1 addon did explain a few faults it could suffer in certain cases and 1 fault was not been capable of moving forward/back pages.

figured i'd update this post to not have anyone confused to why the browser i suggested didn't behave like i had explained (I have added addons for firefox)
