Looking to buy some new headphones for my PC, after my son broke them last night. The band broke, currently taped up until I purchase a new set. Unfortunately it’s the 2nd set of my headphones he has broken over the years. Don’t get me started on the amount of his own headphones for his Xbox he gotten through.

So taking that into consideration I don’t want to spend a lot of money on them just in case he does it again. My current set are Razer Kraken X lite and my previous where a Corsair set. The Razer are currently available for under £30, I am considering just replacing like for like. I am very tempted try some IEMs, as I rarely use the mic anyway, as no else seems to bother using them now.

What everyone thoughts on the pro and cons of both. Also what are other recommending that are under £50.

No way, well not for me anyway but I have bigs ears
Headphones dot com have a good roundup of over ear and IEM headphones and they will mention the size of the ear cups where large or small.

I have large ears and use the Sony XM5 OE headphones and they are great (not what OP is looking for, I know).

OP, AKG do a few budget but good OE headphones.

I will say, any household with kids will go through things quicker as kids are rough on objects so unless you get a pair of headphones made from granite, most will fail if played with.

I'm going to be an uncle soon and my brother and his wife chose white carpets for a recent house improvement and I can't wait for them to tell us that the carpets are now a Jackson Pollock painting.

White carpets, wow brave Choice with kids on the way……. Completely agree kids are a bit rough and I have to remind my son to look after things special if they are not his. To be honest I am surprised they lasted as long as they have, leather or the faux leather has completely deteriorated on the ears pads. Also pealing away from the head band.

Been looking at looking at TruthEar zero reds or Kiwi Cardena. Haven’t considered what I would purchase if I was to decide over ear again.

Truthear zero reds, Dunu Titan X and linsoul crinacle zero 2 all under £50
I've had the blue zero2s for a while now. It's an absolute stunner and EQs so well for extra low end. Best 20 quid spent in a very long while.

After years into audio gear I have come to the conclusion that super fancy gear just buys you more headache and complications.

I agree to a certain extent but I love a wide soundstage, great separation and a slight unnatural bass level.

At the moment....... I hate myself.

Always found bass lacking on IEMs even when reviews have said good bass etc.

But from a young age always had speakers and subwoofers etc so would say over ear over IEM in this instance.
