IEM vs overhead

IEM bass is only fully realised with a perfect seal, the tip type also matters quite a lot, those bundled silicone tips don't always create a 100% seal like memory foam tips do as well

As said IEMs totally rely on a good seal to really perform. I love IEMs. Massive bang for buck, better comfort than over ears and bass response is as good if not better than any cans I've come across.

Linsoul KZ ZS10 Pro

These are the ones I used. Not sure where or what USBc cable to get for them. My phone doesn't have a 3.5 port.

Just on the side of this. There's a LOOOOT of cables on the usual chinese store for both 2 pin and MMCX based IEM's that include a boom mic. It's been my go-to setup for about the last 3/4 years.

Something like "2 pin IEM cable with boom mic" should see you good. The usual rainforest sell similar, but they tend to just be batches bought and re-sold.

Is IEM (in ear monitor) just a marketing term? what's the difference between IEMs and ear buds/ in ear headphones?

All the same thing

Its the same issue with speakers, some companies call their small speakers "Desktop Speakers" and others call them "Desktop Monitors" or "Studio Monitors" to make it sound more fancy, its all Marketing BS

I find that IEMs have a much better sound and fit from the standard earphones I used to own, being able to replace cables and ear tips is sometimes a benefit too.

Not true at all.

Why do you think musicians and singers use IEM's? They are far superior in fit and sound to ordinary earbuds.

mattyfez asked if IEM's are different to in ear earphones. Please explain the difference to me then

To quote Gems...

IEMs (in-ear monitors) sit deeply inside your ear canal with a tight silicone or foam seal for superior noise isolation and accurate audio monitoring. Standard earphones usually rest loosely in the outer ear, letting in ambient noise and offering a more casual, everyday listening experience.
