Iexplorer doesnt work

Ive just set a new account up on my g/f laptop and it has administrator privilages, when i try and connect to the internet iexplorer just seems to hang with a tab saying "connecting". The email works ok just not internet explorer so im guessing ive got some setting wrong somewhere. I dont even get the page sayng that my setting could be wrong - if you the page i mean....... thanks in advance. I think it ie7 thats on the laptop

Have you checked the proxy settings to see if its trying to detect one?

If you go to Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings and then make sure no boxes are ticked (unless you need a proxy for some reason).

I've had it before where the computer is trying to automatically find out its proxy settings and just sits there doing nothing.

Can you ping google.co.uk when logged on as her?

If not whats the ip address given in the ping.
 
Yeah ive actually just finished installing FireFox and that works fine so i guess its IE that has the problem on the second account
 
Open IE, tools > options > advanced > reset

Hopefully should take it back to default settings.
 
Thanks i will give it a try, tbh i prefer FireFox anyway but id also like to have IE working too. Will let you know if it works.
