If CL30 6000MHz is the sweet spot for 32gb(2x16) of RAM on AM5 boards. What is it for 64gb(2x32)?

Thanks for input. My brother bought some it the Corsair stuff and it's running fine with a 7800X3D/B650E-F combo so I'm now leaning towards that, but will keep an eye out for good deals on the Trident.

I've got 32gb. Regularly see around 30gb in use with just a few browser tabs open when gaming, so I was thinking about swapping to (2x32) 64gb. Not sure it's quite an expense though as I think the Gskill Trident Neo 6000 cas30 are about £225

I've had crashes in MSFS 2024 with 32GB RAM, but that game is a heap of junk at the moment. £225 for the 64GB kit of what we both have already seems madness to me. I'm sure we could get some money back for our 32GB kits but still.

Plenty of 64GB CL30 kits at £180 if you've not fussy about RGB. I got a Kingston set for £145 ish using a promotional code just before Xmas.

I'm not sure Gskill are remotely worth the premium charged.

That is a very good deal. I recall Buildzoid saying secondary timings are more important with AM5, so CL30 may be quoted on the box, but what comes after that number is more important. Granted, the performance difference will be minimal. My ram is rock solid so i am not touching it. If MSFS 2024 crashes occassionally because it isn't optimised well, then so be it.

Try running your RAM at 5800 MT/s or 5600 MT/s and see if that stops MSFS 2024 from crashing.

I should have been clearer. MSFS 2024 crashes as it runs out of ram. I don't even run it at max settings, it is just a very messy and buggy game at the moment.

Yea, not good. HWINFO64 ram usage goes red

Thing is, I have no idea how to lower ram usage. Only the very max recommended specs suggest 64gb. Anyway, im not touching it for a while longer as it is so buggy. That’s the only game Ive played where having 64gb would benefit me.

I don't know really. Could be graphical settings (High quality graphics are larger and have to be loaded into the VRAM via RAM so that might be one aspect).

Have you enabled the BIOS feature (the name escapes me) where assets are loaded straight to VRAM instead of going via RAM? Might help.

Rebar? That’s a good shout. I had to disable it 6 months ago to stop Playstation games (HZD, TLoU, etc) crashing.

Yeah, Rebar! Update your BIOS and try it again, some games actually now see an improvement in performance with Rebar enabled.

It was buggy at launch that’s for sure.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’ve had a lot of improvements in with the latest BIOS for things like boots times, so I will try enabling rebar again. Glad someone is on the ball around here
