If I change a E6700 CPU to Q6700 will Vista allow this?

As title. I have an OEM version of vista home premium. If I dropped a Q6700 cpu in would vista allow me to do this under the terms of the licence?
 
Yep, your only tied to the motherboard with oem software, you can change any other component wothout problem.

But somtimes it does asl you to reactivate.
 
yes,as far as im aware it is only major pc parts that you cant change,i changed my cpu from a e6600 to a q6600 and it was fine.
 
OMG so many fast replies with the answer I needed to hear :)

Final point at present the E6700 is over clocked. Prior to dropping the Q6700 in would you reset the bios to factory default?
 
Before you swap just check that your Bios will recognise the new chip( you may have to update it); vista should not, hopefully, be a problem.
