Hello All,

I want to put £1700 into my mates account and for expediency I want to pay it straight into his.

Is it possible to walk into my bank and take £1700 out in one go?

Lloyds TSB b.t.w

Cheers.

i think it would be ok but i dont have one so i normally use my passport to withdraw money. its photo identification so it should be fine.
£10's or £5's so it looks like there is loads of money

Driving license could be fine, but I'd ring up first, as my bank at least (Halifax) is awful with taking out large amounts of cash...
They needed a week's notice for pulling out £3k when I'd deposited £11k that morning!

You could also use CHAPS if you don't want to bother with cash. Just ask over the counter, they'll know what to do (although they might have to call their manager :p).

Can you not set up a direct transfer so you don't have to withdraw a load of cash?

That'll take a few days to clear, I want to cash in there ASAP.

I bank with the Halifax and went to withdraw £2500 last Monday only to be told i had to order anything over £1200. They were able to let me have a Bankers draft fpr the full amount instead. I don't know if TSB operate the same policy but it might be worth a quick phone call.

Shouldnt need to give any advance notice for £1700. It only tends to be £10k+ which they have an issue with.

Might as well do it in cash, £1700 wont "look" like very much at all.

This is natwest

Thanks all :)

You wont have to ring for that amount its fine :)

They may be prompted to call for an authorisation if its unusual for you to withdraw like that - if so - i could be ID'ing you :D

DL is fine for ID

A banker's draft is not a cheque. The money is debited from your account when it is written, not when it is presented like a cheque. Therefore, there is no clearance process, the second bank knows the money is in the first account.

The only problem is if it turns out to be a forgery, as your bank will want their money back, but that's not relevant.
