Over half the time you need good micro to do the BOs that the pros do and most of their BOs would never work in the lower leagues.
I would say copying the build orders for the first like 5 to 8 minutes is ok. But everything the pros do is based on scouting and dont do anything blind, even if they dont sac a overlord they are scouting the army comp and the wall off / timings etc..
Why don't you try it for free? Just download it from http://eu.battle.net/sc2/en/. You can play 1 map vs AI and 5 levels from the campaign i think? Anyways if you are a c+c fan you should like this a lot.

I won a game last night (these days a rare occasion) and had my opponent totally rage and be very abusive... first time i have to to use the report function in many hundred games so yes the community as a whole is very good
I would never say starcraft multiplayer is easy to pick up... the difference between the skirmish and a real player is like 2 completely different games.. sure you can learn all the units and work on specific tactics but then you go online and get cannon rushed in the first 4 minutes ;D

And don't worry about getting flattened game after game... If you've played some RTS before, it won't take long for the matchmaking system to find other people as terrible as you
So yes, I'd definitely recommend getting this game. It's the first RTS I've spent more than a few months playing, and definitely the best
Couldn't agree more, the game is fantastic.
The learning curve is set out really well in the campaign and the challenges to give you enough 'skills' to be able to start playing other people with confidence that you wontt be slaughtered.
Well i take it as a pinch of salt if someone rages because i beat them, in fact i enjoy it!
