If i say bought a new psu to replace my hiper, then bought a decent cooler, and overclocked my cpu to about 2.7ghz (my motherboard isnt really that good and cant do any more than that really), would i see any fps boost in games?

I can get my 6400 up to 2.4 with my motherboard and that sees a fair boost in superPi.

In a very gpu intensive game if may not make much difference though.

Why not try it without replacing your PSU and cooler?

If you are only aiming for 2.7ghz then you may find stock cooling to be adequate, without much increase in voltage.

530w should be enough. People running quads with GTXs on 520w. I will be lol.

Ive got a 500w and running a e6300 clocked to 2.8ghz, two hard drives, dvd writer, 8800GtS and a few things ran off USB power no problems at all.

And yes you will see a difference if you overclock, going from a stock 1.8ghz E6300 to a clocked 2.8ghz makes a huge difference. :D

maybe i should just give it ago, is there a chance that the hiper will blow up as soon as i start overclocking? I no overclocking voids your warranty doesnt it? But do the people in the show no that? (this was a prebuilt gaming pc, i no most are crap but this was pretty good)

Im not sure you would see a rise in fps, your cpu wont be a restriction now I dont think
If the game has lots of AI then sure you would but most games dont need a cpu much

Have you tried overclocking right now, conroe will clock up without more volts. If theres no more volts then the mhz increase itself does not equate to a lot more heat
