There already is many flavours of mobile Linux OSs out there. The world hasn't blown up yet.

BTW, "Linux" don't make anything. "Linux" is the product.

there was also OpenMoco and don't for get Qtopia by Troltech (the guys that make Qt which KDE uses.)

Troltech is now owned by Nokia so was probably involved with Maemo and therefore will be involved with MeeGoo.

There has actual been a lot of different Mobile Linux Variants, nobody took any notice until Nokia did their little tablet and Google popped up with Android. Apple just did something that everyone else could have (and should have) done years before.
