If we made a colony on another planet would you move there?

There is nothing up with this planet but because the same people might hypothetically be leaving it- I'd rather stay ;)

Yes. I want to see what else is out there.

I think you'd get bored very quickly -

As long as theirs no people who just sit on their settee's all day not wanting to work / never worked in their lives, no chavs / thick idiots etc.

Put them all on their own planet to fend for themselves, along with Criminals. lol

The Earth is a beautiful and amazing place. Whilst the planets also look pretty cool, I'm guessing they'd become quit boring overtime staring at the same thing.

I'd only really go if there were more benefits than here on Earth, but as we wouldn't be able to just go outside without protection, then no thanks.

No, I already live on the best planet in our solar system :)

Think we would need to investigate other planets arround alpha centauri to maybe find anything better.

Assuming that your "a few hours" is 3 hours, we'd have a ship capable of travelling at approx 5,100,000 m/s (assuming distance to Mars at it's closest orbit is 55,000,000,000m).

Using the same ship it would only take us 322hours to reach the edge of our Solar System (reach Pluto anyway). Interesting Note: this ship is over 650times faster than the average speed of the Space Shuttle!

So, no, I probably wouldn't colonise another planet (Mars is pretty boring anyway), I'd want to start/be a part of a wider expedition.

Been a while since I've done anything even vaguely Maths based, so my calcs may be way off.

Unfortunately it seems our solar system is b0ring, so not for an extended time. I would defiantly love to visit for a while though. But unless it was "better" than earth then not forever.

Would only move if there was a little girl running around and hiding in the air ducts, if it was barren and windy outside and a really cool old derelict spaceship to go explore :D

Oh yeah, the colony would have to be run by that guy from red dwarf ;) (see if anyone gets the reference) ;)
