I just wonder why people are so nervous to ask for things?
I just got back from the tip, and with a bit of luck, someone has just ended up a little better off for it.
Long story short, we are replacing all our old dark oak furnature (most of it passed down from my Grandparents to me) which is 20+ years old. Nothing wrong with it apart from just being old and somewhat dated. Otherwise, its still in excelent condition (polished weekly) and sturdy and safe as usual.
Anyway, was up the tip about to throw out the extending table and chairs, we wanted to give it to a charity, however, as it had no fire labels, we couldn't donate it. We offered it in the newspaper, but its a *big* set, so for most houses, even when not extended it would dominate the room, so nobody could realistically take it.
Anyway, as I start unloading it to throw in the skip, a guy built like Mike Tyson walks upto me, and honest to god i've never spoken to someone so nervous, but he just about managed to ask me if there was anything wrong with the set and if I was throwing it out, so I explained it to him, and he even more nerviously asked if he could have it as he has just purchased his first house, and has no furnature for it.
I said I had no problem with that and was more than happy to help drive it around to his house, and take it inside, the guy was so grateful, he couldn't stop thanking me.
It feels good to help, but at the same time, realy, why are people so nervous to ask?
