If you knew someone was breaking a Forums rules?

My favourite modding issue was on The Independent's old forum on delphi.

Their swear filter autoblocked the name of their star reporter, Robert Fisk.

I always think of him as Robert **** now.

Would you report them or ignore it?

Just putting it out there as a topic of conversation, i'm not asking for a friend. :)
Snitches get stiches

I've reported a bunch of spam bot accounts though

I spotted someone recently with a bad name and a few thousand posts, I can't remember what the name was but it contained a swear word or something like that. I just replied saying something like "mods haven't spotted your username and you have that many posts?"

There are some people who only ever post in the more obscure sub-sections - I've seen a few people pop up with 1000s of posts but I've never seen before when they post in a popular section for the first time.

On a related matter, what the heck is "disguised swearing" when it's at home?

You have to fully star out the 4 letter word (or similar), you can't just leave say the first and last letter in or thinly disguise it in some other way like swapping an "i" with a "!" etc.. however the adjective or adverb form can have the non-sweary bit, so writing ****ing is allowed.

I guess there is always the Battle Star Galactica approach, you could invent a new word that doesn't exist/isn't a swear word and use it that way I guess.

There is a horrendously outrageous one on Twitter with thousands of followers, posting parody woke stuff and which must have been reported loads of times but presumably, the random dudes in the Philippines or wherever who get the reports just haven't picked up on the issue with it as it's quite sneakily disguised.

the forum/software lets you write that full word! but without the g :p

I guess they've missed that from the auto filter, problem is if you auto censor any variant of 4 letter words then you get the old issue of residents of the town of Scunthorpe having issues with unnecessary censorship!
