I've got taste, thanks all the same.
Cliched? : It was written in 1895 by arguably one of the best poets of the time. Sure it has been dragged out countless times in the last hundred odd years, which makes it 'cliched' by definition, but that's hardly the fault of R.K. is it?
Trite? : "Lacking power to evoke interest through overuse or repetition". Well, this thread shows it still evokes interest. Variations have been used in commercials, so the ad agencies must think it has the power to attract interest.
Populist? : A supporter of the rights and power of the people? Quite the opposite, R.K. is commonly criticised for being elitist.
Claptrap? : Clearly R.K.'s work is not to your taste, could I suggest something a little less challenging, perhaps something by Pam Ayres?
