There is already a thread on the IGN PS3 review,
http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17657128
but I thought a direct comparison was worth a thread of its own.

So here's how the two heavywieghts scored (according to IGN) :

Hardware : X360 - 7
PS3 - 8

Controller :X360 - 9
PS3 - 8

First-party software : X360 - 8
PS3 - 6

Third-party software : X360 - 6
PS3 - 6

Online support : X360 - 9
PS3 - 5

Marketing : X360 - 7
PS3 - 9

The Launch(week) : X360 - 5
PS3 - 5

Future potential : X360 - 9
PS3 - 10

Overall Hardware and System Launch Rating: X360 - 8
PS3 - 6

so overall an average score of 360 7.5 vs 7 PS3 not too bad really - as expected fairly even.

I think ign were a little too generous with the ps3 controller. :(

I don't, the dual shock (which it basically is all button the vibration) is a classic.

The 360 pad beats it for FPS but that's about it imo.

Ive only played fps on the 360 so i cant really compare the two controllers over different types of games.

I dont see how the marketing or launch has anything to do with the console? Thats more of a company issue rather than console.

The dreamcast is the perfect example of how important marketing is to the success of a console. Try and find somebody who owned one but didn't like it. It was an excellent system but marketed very poorly so it never reached outside the hardcode market and ultimately died quite quickly because of this.

Yeah definatley too generous with the PS3 controller, and the launch score, I'd say although Microsoft didnt meet demand all that well, it did a hell of a lot better than Sony and also did a worldwide release, so equal score? No way

Other than that the scores look about right
