I've been looking at this monitor recently.

Thought it was a little surprising that it did 3840x2160 @ 60Hz over HDMI without stating that it was HDMI 2.0, but thought it was cool anyway.

What doesn't seem quite so good it that reading the spec a bit closer it looks like Freesync is only available if running the screen in 2560x1440 resolution.

Does anyone else think it's a bit misleading if that's the case as it seems to be advertised as a 4K monitor with Freesync. So I thought it would be Freesync @ 4K, but it seems not.

http://www.iiyama.com/gb_en/products/g-master-gb2888uhsu-b1/#specification

Under 'special features':
supports FreeSync™ Technology, DisplayPort: 2560x1440@35~60Hz

I just ordered that same monitor over the weekend.

I too noticed the "DisplayPort: 2560x1440@35~60Hz" on the official site but since it was separated from FreeSync with a comma I thought maybe it's another "feature"... I don't really know since this is the first time I'm moving past HDMI over to DisplayPort and so I don't know what the specs allow.

Now that you brought it up I'm kinda concerned. Going to have to contact IIYAMA to clarify.

Would be interested to know their response.

I just spoke to them and they said it does support FreeSync at 4K since they couldn't find any information on their systems that proves otherwise.

Asked them to provide an email confirming the FreeSync @ 4K feature so that I can return the product "no questions asked" in the event that I find the feature really is missing.

Whats the overall review on this monitor. Seems very cheap for a 28" 4K monitor. Looking to get a pair of these as they would cost the same as buying a different branded 1080 or 1440 at a push.

Thanks

I'd be very interested to know if this does actually support Freesync at 4K, or if it really is only 2K. Did anyone get one yet and try it? I can't seem to find any proper reviews or feedback about it.

Pretty shady advertising if it's only supported at 2K as you really have to dig through the tech specs before finding that information, which most people probably wouldn't do!

Cheers

I'd love to provide a proper review but I can't review worth crap.

I will say I like the picture quality & brightness, contrast, etc. Not so much the touch sensitive buttons though, one of them feels less sensitive than the rest and with them underneath the screen it can be a little tricky to use.

As for Freesync, I've enabled it and used Rainbow Six Siege benchmark and it appears to be working at 4K although not as well as it does at 1080p or 1440p, but it definitely does reduce tearing at 4K resolution. (Just to make sure it does work, I tried it with Freesync disabled and the tearing was unbearably bad.)

Honestly, this Freesync feature doesn't impress me much but then I don't know if it's because my system isn't powerful enough for 4K gaming at 60fps. I had to use Low settings to get around 60fps at 4K and believe or not I found VSync to work better!

My specs: i7 3770K / 32GB DDR3 / R9 290 Tri-X OC 4GB / HW RAID5 SSD / Win 8.1

Thank you for the review. It does sound like you don't have freesync working properly.

Try it again, but lower the graphic settings until your framerate doesn't drop below 30fps and see if you like it more.

1440p & 1080p Hz?

Hi all,
I am considering buying 3 of these bad boys for (one day) 4k Eyefinity.

In the mean time I plan to run them at 1080p or 1440p depending on performance.

What are the Hz for 1080p & 1440p will it do 1080p @120hz for example? I know 4k is 60hz on this monitor, but not sure if the lower res will yield better Hz?

Thanks in advance :) Just waiting to push the button on purchasing....

Cheers,
Bully.

EDIT: ok I'm blind I admit it, looks like 60HZ is top whack for this one... Shame. :(

I know this theme is old but I bought this monitor used a year ago and I can see it is still on sale as new. I went through the problem with Freesync not working in 4k. Freesync only works in 4K over DisplayPort. Freesync connected via the HDMI port only works in 2K. I have a NVIDIA GTX1080 graphics card and play World of Tanks in full detail in 4K 60Hz Freesync. The monitor works with NVIDIA graphics cards, just turn on Freesync in the monitor and then in the "NVIDIA Control Panel" options, turn on g-sync. I hope someone will find it useful in 2020 :).
