Hi all,

In the market for a curved ultra wide. My budget is a max £600 and I need Freesync as I have an AMD RX5700 (Gigabyte Gaming OC).

Does anyone have any news on this forthcoming Iiyama monitor and when it will be available in the UK? (and will OcUK stock it?). Reading on Reddit I understand it will be out in Europe in June and be about the same price as the flat panel (~£400 or thereabouts).

What do we think of this panel?

Cheers, D.

Hi @Infiniteey that is really useful, thank you for the reply and sharing :)

If somewhere in the UK can stock the Iiyama GB3466WQSU-B1 Curve (1500R) for approx £400 I think it will do very well.

Buying an ultrawide with a max budget of £600 seems to be a challenge, so many compromises to consider

Thought you were talking about another one, seems good, ultra wide though. Found it at 429.99.
Yes have seen that as well - thanks. Would rather buy from OcUK (assuming they will stock it). Since @Infiniteey's post, I have looked at all the other monitors that use the same curved VA panel and been comparing them to the Flat IPS Iiyama (with the non-UW Dell you got as the backup plan!). Stock availability might become the deciding factor I suspect.

I'm also interested in the curved version also.

It will be for office work, cad etc. Is this the ideal monitor for such work?

I intend to use this monitor for both office work and gaming. Ultrawide is great for office work due to the extra real estate. A curved screen helps if you sit close (~60cm or less) - less moving of the head etc. I have seen mixed comments on CAD and curved screens, with a number saying it is a personal preference. If you were doing a lot of art work (photoshop etc) then I would say you would be better off with an IPS panel rather than a VA panel. There will be a compromise at this budget (~£400-600) for an UW, and I don't feel spending x2-3 times as much actually gets a screen which is x2-3 times better.

Hopefully @NikTheSHNIK will have an amazing deal for us soon and some news on when the stock is landing.

@NikTheSHNIK ordered :D Keep us posted on the delivery status. Never ordered anything before without reading some reviews etc. In theory the back ground research stacks up and we know what we are getting into @markwilliams82 given the competition, price and other monitors that are using this panel... fingers are crossed! Roll on delivery...

Hopefully be here in 2 weeks or so time.

@NikTheSHNIK any updates on this item and our OcUK orders? Will it be end of July or we looking at August? I understand this is not easy to assess!

We are going to receive some this month hopefully. How many i don't know...

@NikTheSHNIK - thank you for the update. I hope I am in the first batch. I would like to think @markwilliams82 and I were quick of the mark to pre-order from OcUK and somewhere near the top ;)

@Boothy666 - thank you for the updated review link and information. I read that review initially, but not seen the updated review about the firmware. Let's hope both Iiyama products are now fit for purpose and all the delays we are experiencing with our pre-orders will mean we don't get any disappointments once we finally get our hands on them. Fingers are crossed.

To my surprise I got a message to say my monitor would arrive today (instead of Monday) - Whoop - so thank you OcUK @NikTheSHNIK :D (@markwilliams82 any news?). Been a patient wait, but not had a chance to unbox as yet due to family commitments. If anyone else has received delivery be grateful for views on 'how to setup!' and test this screen etc. First new monitor since 2012!
  1. I assume trying things like: https://www.eizo.be/monitor-test/ and http://www.lagom.nl/lcd-test/ are a good place to start?
  2. I can't see a monitor driver on Iiyama website - so this has me foxed? Do I need to install one? My graphics card is a Radeon RX5700. So keen to experience FreeSync etc.
  3. Also any tips on best places for UW wallpaper? :p

Thank you all.

Hello all. So I set up the monitor this morning. I was very excited to have it, but am really sorry to say I am experiencing a number of issues. I had high hopes for this monitor, as indicated by my earlier posts. The specification, price etc looked very good. However, I am experiencing constant flickering on the screen.

I would say it is worse than the experience posted here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nui76qpJwsE

With Freesync enabled I get constant flickering on the Windows desktop. This is not acceptable and very difficult to use the screen for anything. This is really bad at 144Hz. I have tested a couple of games and the experience is the same. I am using the supplied cables and a Radeon RX5700.

For those that have the monitor, check you have enabled Freesync and are running the monitor at the standard 144Hz. I am very disappointed. Will keep you updated. I have never returned a faulty product, so need to work this out before next steps. Am contacting OcUK now for options. OcUK have been great getting this order out and keeping us all updated. So, am sorry all round @NikTheSHNIK

Will keep you updated. @markwilliams82 Is your monitor okay? @Justdigit - Have exactly the same. So frustrating.

Hi all. Been on the phone to OcUK and the monitor is being collected tomorrow. OcUK were great. Just feel very disappointed with Iiyama for 'appearing' to release something with a serious fault. My CRT VisionMaster Pro 410 was an awesome Iiyama product that I had for a number of years and served me well, a long time ago! Sadly this Iiyama product did not do the same. Good luck to all those others that have this product.

I did get the UK number for Iiyama (01926 819189) but sadly they could not help or advise further.

OK? You gave up very soon. Although I can understand. I don't think it can and will be solved by not returning it.
Just curious what your next screen will be?

I actually don't know atm.... I have a Lg34gn850 on its way. But it's way more I would pay for a monitor. At least I can see if it's worth almost double the price. It's IPS vs VA.
Also the Coolermaster GM-34CW i have been looking at. Same panel as Iiyama.... But no reports of flickering. But also a third more expensive than Iiyama.

Hi @Justdigit let us know how you get on with the LG - am very curious if the extra £ is worth it, as you say. At the moment I am thinking whether to order the Flat IPS Iiyama GB3461 and be prepared for another (longer?) wait. I really want an UW for work reasons more than gaming (but gaming is a bonus!). I prefer a curved screen also - but for my budget this is not going to be an option, if I want freesync and no flickering etc. At the moment I am thinking perhaps I accept the Flat screen Iiyama and consider upgrading in 2-3 years for a curved screen that can also do HDR (HDR600+). The backup was going to be the non-UW Dell (S3220DGF) - but the possible risk of flickering has put me off, given the Iiyama experience. So currently a non-UW option might be something like the new Dell S2721DGF - which looks interesting). I really did like this Iiyama screen for the value, looks, even the joystick menu (with blue LED which fits in with my theme!), good paper specs etc. Just so frustrating about that flicker! It was a deal breaker for me. OcUK provided excellent customer service. I really hope Iiyama put out a fix for those that keep them, soon.

@markwilliams82 - really pleased both of your screens are working as intended. Thank you for the support answering everyone's questions. All the best.
