Ah bit of a shame we got the same starting resource, I could have started shipping stuff over to you and vice versa. It may be some time before I get another colony with a diff resource as some git has decided to start raiding me, hence I am heading down the military research route soon! Luckily I have bugger all resources stored for him to pillage :p
 
Delta here too, Caledonia is the name of my paradise. I've got loads of wine if anyone wants to trade for marble or crystal glass. C'mon lads, keep your population happy on booze and let me get on with building.
 
I'm noticing now that I am sending out Marble for trade from my trade post, that there is no set economy/pricing yet with everyone requesting their own price for stuff. I guess this is because its early days but some sort of over world view of average prices would be nice.

My brother started an island yesterday and to deliver to him by boat it would take 17hrs. :o
Chris B to you it would take 11 hours to send my boat out and back.

Well, I'm kinda stuck. My island has sulphur on it, which is of no use to me yet. However, I really need crystal and marble to progress.

I'm on Delta - 63:19 - Oxford
 
I need as much as I can get. I do have a trade post, level 3 even, but nobody is wanting to trade any! Same with crystal.
 
Blimey, trading seems to be quite good around me just leveled the trade post up and theres a lot of people wanting marble out there so I'm good for business on that. Some nutters sending me marble when I was advertising it for sale. :rolleyes:
 
I still can't find any marble or crystal when searching for trade. The trouble is, I can't upgrade my trade post without more marble! Catch 22.

I have been pillaged by the other big shot on the Island but he only got away with 2 gold because I had a good warehouse keeping my wares safe. In terms of military might though he is way ahead, I'm still on crappy Slingers.
I won't forget it though and will one day own his city. :)
 
Pillaging is pretty much available as soon as you get a barracks up, and if you don't have a good income of Sulphur then Slingers are the only viable troops you can train to beg with.

Your warehouse is very useful for keeping your resources protected, besides if you get attacked early on it's not much of a big loss, just keep burning wood on every available building and research Wealth ASAP before investing in a stronger army/navy/economy etc.

Neighbouring islands all vary with resources which makes it easy to expand with initial colonies to get your economy stable.
 
Curses! I still can't get any stone! What should I do? Should I attempt to raid someone on a near by island that does have a stone quarry or just hope to trade for it? Even though there is no-one trading for stone at all!
