IKEA Markus

Update!

ok, I just couldn't get on with the Aeron and decided to buy a stealcase leap to try. Wow! what a difference. I'm not in anyway bitter about buying the aeron, I'm pleased I did, as I know it's not the right chair for me (for whatever reason).

The stealcase suits me much better. It's so comfy :-) best chair I've ever owned

Must be quite lucky, as this one is also perfect like the aeron. You'd never know either one wasn't brand new. Picked up the stealcase for £150 inc delivery which has brand new wheels, polished base, new gas canister and reupholstered fabric.

so I now have a fully loaded "like new" aeron for sale with a few extras :-)

Trust me for details

We've got chairs like that at work (though black and without headrest). Didn't realise they were so damn expensive!

At home I've got a Markus. Granted I use it a lot less (seeing how long I'm at work for  ), but I can't see that much of a difference? :/

Really enjoying the Leap. When I first sat down I thought "nope nope nope" because the seat ended about 3/5 along my thigh (i'm 6'2), however that along with about 10 other things are easily adjusted. Steelcase have made a video to show how to adjust the chair,

Today will be the first full day sitting on it, and so far it's really comfortable.

Does the Leap have standard foam type cushioning or something different, like the mesh used in the Aerons? I say this because every single chair I have bought over the years has eventually had to be replaced because the foam cushion eventually becomes permanently compressed and gives nowhere near the original feel of a new chair. Is the Leap any different in this regard?

Mine has a firm cushion. It's not like "awwwww yeahh" when you sit on it, like a soft couch. It's not soft and you don't sink into the padding or anything. You just sit on it and it supports you comfortably.

Must have been me posting on this thread...

WAHHHH - Just seen a new cushion part only is £200 :p - 2 years of daily office use clearly wore it out!

Found this thread while looking for a new chair (obviously!).

After reading about glen8's experience, I thought to share a review that covered several of the top end chairs: http://thewirecutter.com/reviews/best-office-chair-is-the-steelcase-leap/

Lueder, who has spent over two decades helping office workers find chairs that make sense for them, illustrated this point with a little anecdote: “The Herman Miller Aeron is the most liked chair,” she told me, “and it’s also the most disliked.”

Picked up a couple of Ikea Markus chairs in orange for free on Gumtree last Monday. They're from an office in Brighton and both a bit grubby. 30 mins with a vacuum cleaner, some Scothgard and a brush and the grubbiest is nice and clean.

Both will be going in my man cave when I've built it.
