Aren't ikea bed sizes different from conventional beds?
I'd spend more on something that's a normal size and in the £300 range (best value for money price point)
Not anymore. You can choose between UK and European sizes.

I have the Hyllestad. I've had it nearly 3 years and it feels the same as the day I bought it.
The only (other) place I've seen this mentioned is the recent TV advert for a mattress shop.
It's there any science to this or just some successful marketing convincing people to replace something potentially needlessly?

Which is moot since you should change your mattress every ~8 years anyway
Hi,
Going to IKEA in an hour to buy a new mattress, looking at the HÖVÅG as it seems a decent mid-range mattress from the advert.
Anyone here has an IKEA mattress? If so what are they like long-term?

Odd when 10 year guarantees are not uncommon and ikea themselves despite recommending a change every 8-10 years for hygiene offer a 25 year guarantee.

Not sure about you, but any bed I have slept in with a mattress any older than 6+ years shown some sign of wear, would never think of owning a mattress for much longer let along 15-20 years!
I spent 800 quid on a Dreams mattress a few years ago, wish I spent double that!
Have a look on groupon, I'm forever getting mattress deals through my emails from them.
We have an ikea mattress, the hamarvik, it's really comfortable, we did actually try the hovag, but found it far less comfortable than this one
