illegal bank charges :-<

someone on here once posted a website to go to for all things relating to this... im auditing my parents accounts at the moment and from the one bank alone they have been fined nearly 10 grand over 4 years :mad:

i would appreciate some advice / net links. cheers.

As usual start with the FAQs but there is lots of info including template letters etc. READ everything before you do anything ............ but they should be able to claim most of the charges back ...... READ.

I've done it personally, and I got my charges back. It can be a fairly long process, but hold out.

Out of interest, which bank are you claiming back? Halifax was fairly easy for me, but I've heard Barclays are rather firm.

well thanks for the links... im still not sure what types of charges i can claim back for yet though, as they have overdraft charges, late payment charges, interest charges on the overdraft and dreaded credit card charges way beyond normal payments. i will have to do some reading.

Pretty much any charges they make towards you - plus interest from when they were made to you. :cool:

Really worth doing. I only went overdrawn once but it cost me nearly £300 which I got back for the price of a first class stamp.

Hmmm, ive just been charged like £30 odd or so for going slightly over my overdraft. Can i claim this back using this method?

Also can this be claimed back from previous charges, as i have just recently closed down my HSBC account which had been charged too a couple of times for going overdrawn. Can i still claim back from them?

EDIT - just read the FAQ, seems i can. Best get reading then!
