Why do people bother? There are many versions floating around which don't need activation and have additional software bundled in. Apart from the obvious copyright violation isn't there a huge security risk of using a cracked version of XP? If some dodgy individual has gone to the trouble of preparing such a 'distribution' what’s to say they haven't also added spyware, it would be pretty simple to add a key logger that recorded every key stroke and invisibly uploaded or emailed that log file out periodically.

How can people trust their operating system to a bunch of criminals?

they could add that stuff into it, but the release would be quickly discredited. The point is that an illegal copy wont cost you £100, and are often the top spec versions. Anyway I suspect this thread will be locked soon.

its so much cheaper (ie nothing lol) and normally its made and distributed by respectful warez people, so i very much doubt there would be a spyware hidden agenda.

LOL first time i've heard of thieves selling/passing on stolen goods referred to as "respectful"

Of course someone who thinks it's alright to steal wouldn't also think it's alright to mess around with viruses/trojans/spyware.. I mean, it's not like thier dishonest or anything

Sorry cvl101, but this is only going to lead to people making silly comment risking their accounts, and advocation of software piracy (we're pretty much there already).

Closed.
