My mate just warned me of changing my numberplate over before hitting Switzerland, or if possible, for the entire trip. This is all hypothetical by the way

So, has anyone in Switzerland been pulled over for their plate or simply not risked it? I'm tempted to simply swap my plates over before going in... Or maybe even just admit defeat and put the dinner plate back on.

Just go out with the stock plate on, or are you worried some one you know might see you with it on & think you've gone all pipe 'n' slippers. :D

For the sake of £15 or the 30 seconds it takes to put a full size one back on, I wouldn't even consider taking the risk.

The Swiss police are utter ****ers.

It's a complete no brainer really. Why give them an excuse to give you hassle in a foreign country?

Stop being so vein :p

But but! Dinner plate :(

Lol, ok guys. Thanks for the input, it is indeed not worth the hassle at all. And I've heard many horror stories about their over the top law. Which is a shame as a large part of my trip is through Switzerland.

I'll slap a GB sticker on the back of the RH side pannier

Do you think the light stickers are 100% essential as well? I never bothered with any of this when I went over to Europe between Christmas and new years.

They are ridiculously OTT, and fuel and general living costs are very expensive there as well. After my big Eurotrip I did a few years back I wouldn't be hurrying back to Switzerland after we had so much fun in Austria and Italy and the south of France.

I've got past the days when I had to have a small plate
I have just left my stock, its just one less thing to worry about having been fined years ago for a small plate.

As others have said, it's not worth the hassle, so stick the big plate back on.

As for light stickers, I've done two Euro trips (France and Germany) and not used them, but if you're going for longer and are worried about police attention, it's not exactly that much of a faff to fit them, right?
