Illuminated switch help

hey guys,

well basically I got a nice set of air horns for Christmas and i am currently wiring the switch for them, but as im abit of a pain I like to do things differently, i am wanting an illuminated switch, which will only illuminate when the ignition is switched on.

so im thinking of taking the 12v switched feed from the radio, and scotch locking off of it for the illumination of the switch. Does this sound ok ?

does that look ok?

im not wanting a thread on, "oh how silly you are having air horns" and "you should have brought a bmw / mondeo, they are factory fitted" and please dont take the pee out of my paint handwriting, thank you.

Are these not factory fitted on BMW's? Should have got a 530i Sport.

Would be nicer to take a feed from somewhere in the dash illumination circuit rather the an ignition feed. That way the switch will only illuminate when you've got your lights on and the rest of the dash lit up.

This man speaks the truth - having it illuminated all the time would be strange when the rest of the dash is unlit so to speak.

Don't forget the live feed for the relay, fused, from the battery or somewhere.

What tune do they play, anyway?

Shocking paint handwriting, btw. Did you notice the 'text' button?

Scotch locks aren't the best, they tend to have a dodgy connection; even when supposedly got working properly they can then lose the connection. I recently rewired my whole alarm system getting rid of the scotch locks - they're convenient, which is why I used them in the first place, but don't last, as I discovered.

No problem! Even a hugely clever or talented person - like Stephen Hawking or Stevie Wonder - could have done no better.

Yeah, this sounds a good idea actually. I can steal a feed from my cigarette lighter illumination.

I would strip the insulation and solder the wires.

I didn't go to quite so much hassle - I cut the existing wire, stripped the ends, twisting the ends of all three wires together, stuck them in a bullet connector and crimped them together, if that's the right word. No soldering needed
