So i want to know what i just brought... and what it actualy does :p

Currently i have a 2500 Barton-M At 2.5Ghz

I just ordered a X2 4800+ In a pc.. the thing is i know its Dual core and i know its got HyperTransport.... but i dont realy know what that means

Does a dual core 4800+ Meen i have 2.4Ghz CPU... or 4.8Ghz because its dule core? and what does HT do......

Thanks everyone :)

The 4800 is just the model number and not the actual speed in MHz. The actual processor runs at 2.4Ghz on each core. HyperTransport is a new technology that increases the bandwith between the CPU, RAM and motherboard. Hope this answers your questions.

The long and short of it is that you will have a bloody quick PC. It has 2x2.4ghz cores which don't work in the same way as 1x4.8ghz core, but in multithreaded apps it will be similar in performance to a single 4.8ghz core... A single 2.4ghz coreis also very quick for most apps,so you'll be fine there too.
HT is just a very clever technology that improves the memory throughput of the A64 family. It's a quick PC, and I bet it cost a buck too... ;)
