Basically I've had enough of this 19'' CRT It's a Vision Master Pro 450. Undoubtedly the best monitor I've ever had but, I've decided its taking up too much of my desk space! I would like help finding an LCD monitor :) I don't want anything smaller than 19'' or it would just feel too small, and it must be able to cope with 1600x1200 at a decent refresh rate. I'm not to bothered about wide screen, but don't rule it out either:)

max budget £150 (will spend more if you can't actually buy them for that much money :p)

Unfortunately you can't get 19" LCD with a resolution of 1600 x 1200. They are all 1280 x 1024 so you need to be looking at 20" or greater for that resolution.

But I think you'll have to up your budget if you want to stick to 4:3 format.

Theres only really one choice IMO for a 20" 4:3 screen:

Dell Ultrasharp 2007FP 20.1" £264

With wisecreen now the popular choice you would be able to get a half decent ws 20" and even 22" screen within you budget if you don't mind TN film screens. You can certainly get a top quality ws monitor for less money than the 20" 4:3 Dell.

Widescreen is really a lot better, especially in games in 16:10 you can view more surroundings than 4:3/16:9.

24" is really the top at the moment id go for that, if not then 22" LG is a good monitor as i have one and im very pleased with it.

Nah i think all 19" widescreen lcd's are 1440x900, can't think of any exceptions. 20" / 22" are almost all 1680x1050.

What do you do a lot of? whats important for you? It really makes a difference when considering a new screen.

I'd think for the budget you originally stated you won't get much more than a pretty bug standard non-overdriven tn panel'd 19/20". If you can stretch to £200 or just over then you give yourself 2 v good options.

Do you game a lot? not too arsey about colours? 226bw seems to be popular for good reasons, extremely responsive compared to alternatives (even much more expensive alternatives).

Do you browse a lot and generally like more vibrant pictures etc? or maybe play slow "noob games" like world of warcraft (!!!! :p) in which case the Dell 2007wfp seems the obvious choice.

is this a good buy?http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-056-SA
or is the smaller 20'' better? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MO-051-SA&groupid=17&catid=948&subcat=

LCDs dont generally excel above CRTs, they take up less space and are generally bigger.

If that's what you want then go for it, you shouldn't be disappointed with a 22" widescreen monitor for general tasks.
