Is there a way of making a batch file that when ran it takes all my .avi files from inside their folders & places outside their folders?

eg: All my movies are in separate folders in my movies folder. I want to move all my movies into the movies folder without their own individual folders. I have over 800 so it would be a mammoth task

It will be very messy in one big folder. Once it is done, you will not be able to easily copy the files back.

Out of interest, why do you want them in the one folder?

My TV (in sig) can play them direct from HDD because I went into the service menu & changed it from 550 to 650. I have a 1TB WD portable passport drive.
I was thinking it makes it quicker then opening the folder then running the video. It doesnt make a huge difference...

@ Yetiii: Very messy in one big folder? How would 800 individual folders be any tidier than 800 individual files? :/

@ OP: It is an extra click, so it's really down to how much that extra click annoys you lol.

With individual folders you can import all of the metadata and organise it nicely for Media Centre or similar use - not sure you can do that in a single large folder?

I don't understand why these metadata apps need one file per folder..

can't they just use movename.xml and moviename.jpg so you keep them all in one folder?

And have Media Centre working easily like most 3rd party Media Centre type apps already do?? lol
