Well some of you may have noticed that i've stopped Folding for the past couple months. Mainly due to the additional cost of the PS3 on 24/7 along with my PC on 24/7 and my lodgers PC on the bulk of the day.

I've now upgraded my rig, which was useless as a Folding Rig due to stability to a C2D E6850 @ 3ghz with 4gb RAM and X1950 Pro 512mb.

I don't want to return to my PS3 on 24/7 so what's my best bet? GPU client or 2 console clients?

If your PC is going to be on 24/7 or something near that then the SMP client will be by far the best bet, if not then 1 GPU client and 1 console client would be next best.

Welcome back :)

welcome back man :)

may be worth checkin out the winSMP client?? thats what i've been using lately but have had a few problems with it. think most of its just down to my PC. i'm fairly sure it's not totally stable :(

Oh, you would!! Just as I'm about to stomp you!!! :D

I did actually notice you turned your ps3 off. I was interested in other ps3 folders since I was running mine at the same time. :D

The SMP client is the way to go. I've found the winSMP client to be a pain in the arse (running Vista 32bit) but to be fair I've given up easily. If I wanted to I'd sort it. I'm sure there will be plenty of people round here who would help if you got stuck.

I've been using the WinSMP client on XP Pro without any trouble at all. :D

It beats me why everyone (well, maybe not everyone...) complains about it!!

The only tiny problem I have experienced, is if the PC needs restarting, it's best to wait till it's just finished a step before doing so. I have found that if you don't, you run the risk of losing the WU altogether.

But other than that......

/waits for Sods' Law to manifest...
