Hey guys,

Had some welding done to fix the bumper mount so i could get my rear bumper put back on today. All went well, new plate is welded in place, all looking good.

Drove about 4-5 minutes drive to my girlfriends college where i was to be a guinea pig for electrical muscle stimulation as part of her assessment.....got there, got out the car and noticed that it was smoking. At first i thought the weld was just hot and cooling down but that didnt add up as the smoke started to get a bit thicker....at which point i realised something was on fire....

That's right, the wheel arch lining had lit.....and it's about 3 inches from my fuel tank. Fun fun! There was luckily a plumbing class about 20 feet from where i'd parked where i ran and got some water and a fire extinguisher, took about 6 full buckets of water to get it to stop smoking! If i hadn't noticed it though it could've got VERY VERY nasty.

The guy who did the welding came straight away, phoned him whilst i was waiting for the water. He's apologised profusely and is getting me a new wheel arch lining. Luckily, no other damage as it hadnt progressed into the OMG flames stage before i noticed it.

So, lets have a vote.....is it the car itself that's cursed or just cars that i drive?

Tom.

It's the fact that you are a dirty northerner :p

...and you're coming to the MM?

/me buys eggs and flour.

Unlucky Tom! Good of him to put it right. Wish my 206 would have done that when I had it repaired all those times. I would have encouraged the fire :D

I think you are cursed tbh Tom, remember when I took you for a spin in my Civic and you mentioned the floor vibrating? I've since tried to re-create the problem with a few different passengers, nothing:confused::p

Seriously though, hope your luck with cars improves soon:(

and less of the Northerner bashing Phate:p
