I'm excited!!

I believe the Noctua has poor static pressure so it doesnt do very well if the air way is block, eg- the HDD in the original poster's case.

i would ee that as a valid reason, but the 2 hdd's are spaced out so there is a BIG gap inbetween, would they really obstruct it that bad? there is pretty much an 80x120mm space between the hdd's as they are sat at the top & bottom of the front bay to avoid blocking too much of the fan.

As for the kama bay, i might throw one of the silentx's in and see what happens, as the Scythe one in there is running below 800rpm for sure, and is on 12v :(

dont suppose you have the noctua behind a mesh grill with small gaps do you? If you do then that might be why its not shifting much air.

Edit: well if the worst comes to worst, just flog it to and recoup some of your loss

Yep, the external is pushing through the traditional honesycomb mesh on the back of the Akasa, the case is unmodified apart from the front foamy mesh insde the air vent being taken out. Strange though as the akasa eclipse is well known as being a spacious, roomy case with a good airflow, even as stock, will have to give this some thought re next move!

If you want to improve the static pressure try a 38mm thick fan in the front of your Elipse. You need to make a slight adjustment to the air guide on the lower hard drive bay but its well worth it. I have a 38mm thick panaflo which even at 7v delivers good cfm and pressure.

Will have a looksee, i found NMB-MAT FB-120-L1A as a model if thats the one to get? :D

andyh: at 12v whats the fan sound like? very audible?

Also, would you recommend I cancel my order? Having the same case as the OP, Ill have the pressure issues too so there is no point is there? Save myself some money I guess.

the reason the scythe bay fan is slow is because it will be at the very front of your case, if they put a fast/high cfm one in a lot of people (reviews/us :D )would say they are to loud.Im sure they were designed to assist in cooling if you had free 5.25 bays.
ive got a Noctua(1200) as exhaust @7v, but as posted, read somewere they arnt to clever on heatsinks.Ive got a thing for fans m8 :D and tried **** loads and personally find the scythe 1600rpm fans at 960rpm(on controller) the best for noise/cfm(so i cant hear them)
got 4 scythes(2push/2pull)all @960rpm on a rad and they work very well as intake
hope this helps ,c ya

Nice one Ivan nice to see you followed up my recommendation, how is the U12F? :)

The cooler is still in its box right now! had an appointment this afternoon so was only able to do the fans (Temps have gone up 5c all round from switching the noctua fans in :() but i'm gonna give the HSF a go tomorrow if i get the guts to do it!!

I heard that the Noctua's aren't the best case fans because of air pressure, I haven't tested mine yet. But I have a Yate Loon and an S12 to compare when I next have some time. What fans did you have before this? Also what speed S12's are they?

The S12's are the 1200 rpm as i was preapred to hear a "little" for some gain, but no louder, quieter, and less air being pushed, i was using silentx's and i may well be again soon! lol

Would the noctua fan on the noctua cpu cooler be ok? Specially with summer looming!

Daren't even close the bloody case today!

silenX for the win, always came out better than the noctuas in my opinion, i can't compare to the scythes though, not having used them before :)

Should be great yeah, I have a low speed S12 on mine and im clocked @ 3GHz and 35C idle 45C loaded. Has to work better than that. Didn't you get an S12 with your U12F?

The noctua would be fine cooling your cpu, the heatsink design is definately on par with the big boys like the Tower, Ultra 120 and Infinity. If you are that worried just changed the fans

You could like mc says just try testing with different fans would be worth it to see what fan offers the best airpressure. Just noticed, is that a Scythe Kama Bay in the picture (on left)?

Yep, it is it occasionally lets out a wee whine, hands 2cm behind it, no airflow :( Might have to throw a silentX in the front, then the noctua from there in the kama bay!

Ahh beige on black, will look soo pretty!! :D
