My current setup is quite simple with an account with BT and a modem and run this computer with the standard log in on BT to get to the yahoo homepage. Im getting a second computer that is going to be run side by side with this one im on now. Will I be able to just put my bt disk in my new computer and duplicate my login name and process or will that not be possible? Do i have to tell BT that im running 2 computers etc.. just curious how the whole thing works when you have one account but 2 computers?

yes my modem has multiple outputs for ethernet which ill use so is a router but its more the software im thinking about. Can 2 computers be used with the same log in from BT etc and can 2 computers be loaded with the same thing and be run at the same time?

Your description of how you go online makes it sound like you have a modem, not a router, so it'd help people if you confirmed exactly what make and model you have.

If you use a router and connect via ethernet there's no software required, well apart from drivers for the ethernet interface on your PC and a browser so you can connect to the router and configure it - both of which you should already have.

If it's got multiple ethernet ports it's a router. Just plug the second computer in and it will be fine.

From a technical point of view there's know reason why you can't use software on two different computers at the same time. Although if you only own one copy you should only use it with one PC unless the paperwork that comes with the software says you can use it on more.

If it's a router you have then you don't need to login at all, the router establihses the connection and maintains it constantly. What exactly are you logging in to?

If it's a router you should be able to just uninstall the BT software on the computers, connect the computers up via ethernet and it should work. The router does the authentication not software.

If you have any doubts give BT a call to check if you have a modem or a router, or post your model here and someone will help you.
