Im getting a Chameleon!

Ok im about to finally buy one

just trying to sort out the housing for it first though.

looking at complete starter kits they range between £70 and £300

now i know that they need the light! heat mat etc.

can anyone recomened a good starter kit?? there seem to be so many to chose from i dont no what to go for, some say that the light is not needed. others say it is.

confused!!!

I would buy it all separately tbh. Usually works out cheaper and you can make it to you spec.

You need a well ventilated enclosure for a Chameleon like one of the all mesh style cages.

I'm not entirely clued up on Chameleons but I doubt you would need a heat mat as they will spend 99% of there time in the foliage and not on the floor. You will definately need a light as the heat source with some kind of thermostat. I think they are a day species? If they are then you probably need a UV light, too.

Make sure you do your homework before you get one so that you can get everything set up correctly.

Yeah try an exo-terra enclosure. What Chameleon you getting? Yemen?

with regards to wall ventalaiton i havent seen any like that. maybe im not looking hard enough lol

I would suggest one of these. Vivariums will contain the heat more so a mesh would be better.

Shouldn't need to, unless it's near the window/sun.

I have an Iguana (see my other thread)

You Need:

Ceramic Heater 100Watt .. Depends on the size of Vivarium
Ceramic Heater Controller
UVB Light For Sun Rays
Some Source of running water .. Drip or something
Calcuim Powder with gun feed the crickets
Place to store crickets ( unless you buy fresh often)
Fake or real plants , Branches ( Lots of climbing material )
