I'm getting old

Father had 2 of these, before that had the W123 model, then we bought a W203 C-Class estate.

All I will say is, they should build the new estates like they did with the W124's, they are bullet proof tanks. Excellent cars, but I wouldn't pay that much for one.

I know the chap who sells them, I've been to his place to nose around his stock so I know they will be the best available, hence the price tag, but they also seem to retain their value very well but the main appeal is their utter bullet proof build that will top the 3/5 series. They were the last of the over engineered Mercs I feel.

Nice cars but that money buys a lot better.

Long term prospect, it would probably appreciate with time & care.

They were the last of the over engineered Mercs I feel.

I can honestly say that this is true. They are work horses, you can move a houseload of stuff in them and they will still remain strong (as I know). The engines are pretty much solid proof as well. Still for £6k they are expensive. But I guess that is because of the condition they are in.

The condition is superb, granted. Still way overpriced to my mind.

Somebody will see value in them & I bet they soon sell.

Certainly "Proper Merc"s

Edit: Found this, the Mercs are a relative bargain perhaps......

I'd find it hard to chose an e39 M5 over this for similar money...... - £ 12,995

They are top money I know that, but the chap is a Merc man through and through and has some lovely cars come through his hands, I went to see the 500E he had and it was lovely and I've also looked around E28 M5's, Quattro's, RS2000 and others stuff he has tucked away in his location. Real pandora's box of stuff he has.

Most of my childhood was spent being carted about in one of those, good memories.

Got rear ended twice whilst I was in the tank, both times no damage. First time I slept through the accident even though the car behind was written off. Second time I was sat in the rear facing seats (7 seater) and my friend's mum skidded into the back of us, again no damage.

One of the most fun things about driving around when a kid in one of those is waving at oncoming traffic (rear facing) when 7 up.

That price does seem mega steep though and afaik Mercedes made the ecu's in these biodegradable(!), so that's definitely something to look out for.

Bad value for money in terms of what you get but it'll only go up in value as an asset. My dad went to West Germany and bought one of these back in the day when you actually saved a lot of cash!

Bulletproof

It does nothing that a late C55 AMG doesn't do better for less money. Nothing at all.

Yeah, C55's are at something like £10k now. Still Fox, a rare gem it is never saw one for sale up until now. Debadge = sleeper win.
