I was running it with 16 threads. Interested to see what happened with 8 so I also set IBT on vey high and let it rip. Seems to be behaving OK

What about the same settings with 16? If you could check peak temps that would also be v interesting.
Edit: also I think linx is better maintained than IBT. It uses much more recent Linpack, including AVX2, which should get things hotter and possibly double the GFLOPS numbers (I wouldn't mind you confirming that, I haven't got anything to test it on).
