I'm going to Stamford Bridge

I got tickets for the game against Valencia
So excited should be a cracking game!

so like which station is the best to go to during match days?

also On the way out is it wise to avoid the underground?

I need to get back to the heathrow area - which route should I take? (was thinking getting buses as long as it don't take more than 2 hours)

Avoid buses, the Kings Road is sometimes shut for football. Stick to Fulham Broadway tube station, much easier and a lot bigger than 5+ years ago.

Roads around football stadiums in London tend to get very busy. You might get on a bus but it won't move for an hour.

Take the tube. There will be a big queue but it won't take you too long to get on the move.

How confident are you in finding your way about London? Sometimes I find it's quicker to actually just walk overground as by the time you've messed about heading down and waiting for the Tube it can have taken longer. As far as I can see Earl's Court is the closest station that's on the District Line and that would take you back towards Heathrow, it should be within fairly easy walking distance after the game (looks to be about 1 mile give or take) but equally it's probably far enough away to discourage most fans from walking to it so you'll just have to deal with the normal London crowds at whatever time of night you're there.

//edit however it is on the District Line as is Fulham Broadway so there will doubtless be lots of Chelsea fans passing through it anyway.

Yer walking to earls court is a good option I don't mind the walk just got to find then way tbh thanks

It depends which exit you come out of I guess but it looks like the simplest way/least likely way for you to get lost is to head out onto the A304/A308 (Fulham Road) and walk eastwards along it for a couple of hundred metres then turn onto the A3220 (Edith Grove/Redcliffe Gardens/Earls Court Road) then walk up there until you get to the Earls Court Tube Station. There are probably slightly quicker ways but that seems to be a fairly simple way to do it. :)

what is fulham broadway normally like after games?

so i take it the 211 bus is very popular

The Fulham Road is closed on match days:

As is the main entrance to Fulham Broadway station before and after a match. The back entrance is used at the time. But do you the tube as it does not take more than around ten minutes to get to the platform. You will probably have to wait for the next tube when you get there. Just bear to the right when you have left the Bridge as the police filter the crowd to the station.

It is the quickest way back to Hearthrow and change at Earls Court for the Piccadilly. Also be prepared for a very crowded platform at Earls Court for the District line getting there.

wouldnt i be better off walking to earls court like pro waster said?

I have been to Stamford Bridge, I was ok though.

I'm only joking, but their fans certainly have a less than savoury reputation when it comes to those sorts of issues. Their captain too allegedly.
