My car's already pretty loud when I lift off the throttle as I have no dump valve fitted so just get a shed load of compressor stall.

Only problem is, the T25's compressor stall isn't very chirpy... so it just sounds like a load of pigeons coo'ing under my bonnet.

Hence the thoughts about a dump valve. At first the coo'ing was cool, but now it's just annoying.
 
Compressor stall is not good :( Makes a cool sound but may possibly shorten your turbo's lifespan. Get a dump valve.

I was expecting a 5 page thread by now with most of the replies being single word posts saying "Chav!!"

panthro, I thought compressor stall wasn't such a big problem if you weren't running mega boost. I'm running about 11.5psi at the moment.

Lovely mate, hasnt skipped a beat, pretty much changed my mind about selling it, probably keep it till the summers over now. Btw turned out that the fag lighter did work, it was the pushy middle thing which was knackared, swapped it out for one on the sly at a bm dealer :D

Needs its uberservice in 4000miles though :(
 
I had one on my R5GTT and my MR2 turbo. Couldn't give a stuff what anyone thought, I liked em so I bough em.

Try and get a decent one though, SSQV or similar sound good but the cheapo ones sound, well cheap...

Steve, yeah I agree about the cheapo dump valves. HKS SSQV is definitely on my wish list... but for now, any cheapo jobbie will do.

Have you seen those SSQV style dump valves on eBay? Any idea if they sound similar to the HKS version?

A re-circ? They're so for the lose :p

My car had one when I got it, but it turned out to be seized solid or something... the noise from the air filter was the same when I replaced it with a blanking plate.
